Examples of significant projects:

  • Greenland Ranch, Colorado.  Principal conservation attorney and legal coordinator for 21,000 acre project along 8 miles of Interstate 25 in Douglas County, Colorado, involving public/private partnerships and funding, conservation easements that preserve ranching, scenic vistas, and public acquisition of recreation areas.  Additional projects along I-25 corridor totaling more than 40,000 acres.
  • North Rim Ranch, Arizona.  Representation of conservation groups in acquisition of 900,000 acre ranch on North Rim of Grand Canyon, including purchase of BLM and Forest Service grazing allotments. 
  • Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, Oregon.  Acquisition of several parcels for expansion of Fort Clatsop site as part of Lewis & Clark Expedition Bicentennial Celebration.   
  • Topaz Internment Camp, Utah and Minidoka Internment Camp, Idaho.  Representation on purchase of privately held parcels that were part of Japanese internment camps during World War II for inclusion in federal memorial sites.   
  • Lake Catamount, Colorado. Conservation attorney in purchase of development rights which resulted in extinguishment of proposed ski area, commercial and residential development and preservation of significant area near Steamboat Springs.
  • Desert Tortoise Habitat, Nevada, Utah, California.  Attorney on purchase of land and grazing allotments (for relinquishment) to protect desert tortoise habitat.
  • Plum Creek, Montana. Conservation attorney on purchase of important wildlife habitat for state of Montana.
  • Snake River, Idaho.  Representation on several conservation easement acquisitions along South Fork Snake River.
  • Orchards and Vineyards, Western Colorado.  Numerous conservation easements which protect fruit orchards and vineyards in Western Colorado.
  • Permanently Affordable Mobile Home Park, Colorado. Conversion of conventional mobile home park into permanently affordable housing owned and managed by residents’ own organization. 
  • Housing for Disabled, Colorado.  Acquisition and creation of permanently affordably housing for disabled persons.
